Review of the Waxmaster No. 99402 August 31, 2008 D. Ruzicka 7 out of 7 found this review helpful
For years I've used a large variety of orbital and rotary polishers and more recently the Waxmaster Model W109. I decided to purchase the current version as a backup since I do allot of waxing and my W109 is showing signs of wearing out. The current model No. 99402 is much improved over the older W109. The motor has slightly more power @ .80 amps instead of .65 amps, the new model comes with an applicator bonnent and one polishing bonnet whereas the W109 came with nothing. The switch has been changed so that you can keep the unit on while working with one hand over the hood or roof etc. The old push button had to be held on in these sometimes awkward positions. The owner's manual is much improved and includes what I consider to be some of the better machine waxing techniques. Waxmaster also offers four different bonnets for the machine. This machine is best used for application and removal of paste or liquid wax. It doesn't have the power or mechanical action required to do paint correction or serious polishing. For those procedures you'll need a true double action polisher or variable speed rotary buffer with the appropriate pads. One needs to keep in mind that for a wax job to be effective and long lasting the paint surface needs to be properly cleaned and polished first. If you simply wax over oxidized paint the wax and shine won't last very long before it goes dull again. That is not the fault of the machine or the wax. Conclusion: I rate this polisher as a good buy considering the quality and price. For the average person who only does a couple of wax jobs a year they'll probably never wear it out. It actually does a very good job of wax application and removal and really takes all the work out of it. The only orbital I would consider better than this machine costs $189.00. For less than $30.00 this machine is a very good deal.
