Heavy duty 1/2 HP motor evacuates today's tighter systems with their increased sensitivity to contaminants. Offset rotary vanes work in conjunction with the vacuum pump oil to create a powerful compression inside the pumping chamber. Vacuum pump efficiency depends largely on the purity of the vacuum pump oil. The gas ballast feature helps keep the oil clean for a longer time by introducing a small amount of dry atmospheric air to prevent condensation of moisture within the pumping chamber. Two stage design for greater efficiency—the second stage of the two-stage design starts pumping at a lower pressure to pull a deeper ultimate vacuum. The inlet filter prevents contaminants from entering the pumping chamber, check valve prevents oil from backing up into system during a power outage. Heavy duty motor is easy to start and efficient to operate. The power switch is located on the handle assembly to protect it from accidentally being turned on or off. Sure grip handle stays cool to the touch and directs exhaust away from you.

I ordered the pump with the R134 conections and received te R-12 fittings with it. Amazon is a poor excuse as far as jerkig you around with customer service and so is RobinAir. Do Not Buy This Item!!!!!
 Great Vacuum Pump For Moldmaking and Casting - Highly Recommended October 13, 2009

We use the Robinair 15600 to apply a vacuum to our 1' sq vacuum chamber used for silicone moldmaking and resin casting business. This is a solid pump and has held up well with daily use.
The 6 CFM capacity was the real selling point, as time is important due to the short work cycle of the materials we use. This pump gets us down to 28.5" in a hurry!
Highly recommended!
Great Pump September 7, 2009

years ago this was the state of the art vacuum pump I wanted at $600 - when I moved to Washington I got back into the A/C business and at $250 at Amazon - I jumped on the deal - this is a workhorse that should outlast me. Delivered on time - I have been a very satisfied Amazon customer.

I purchased the pump for a vacuum bag operation. It is working well with no problems even though the frame in the vacuum press system has leaks! The pump arrived ready for use and started immediately once the oil (included) was added ... no mess, no fuss.
I tapped the handle exhaust to accept a 1/2" NPT fitting so that I can direct the oil mist (caused by leaking vacuum frame) to an outside area (used a 1/2" air hose) until the frame is fixed. Works excellent!
