Works as expected August 18, 2008 Roy Moren I have several of the Battery Tender Jr's and they all work perfect. I never have a dead battery on items I rarely use. It's better to have several of these vs on multi battery charger, so you can connect them to vehicles that are not grouped together. The multi chargers are good if you take the batteries out and charge them together but who wants to do that. Just buy a few of these and hook right up to the vehicle or boat where they sit. Use an extension cord if needed.
EXCELLENT PRODUCT!!! July 31, 2008 J. D. Pritt (Berkeley, CA) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
If you have an ATV, motorcycle, scooter, moped, or boat, the Deltran line of Battery Tenders are lifesavers. Easy to install and use, and they work great. My old scooter used to slowly loose charge over the winter which would make it difficult to start, but my Deltran battery tender has eliminated that problem. The battery stays charged no matter how long I let it sit without riding. I love it!
Battery Tender--A nice product. July 21, 2008 Sebastian V. Massimini (Maryland) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
The battery tenders are worth their price in agravation avoidance!! Your car or motorcycle starts right away after not having been driven for ahwile. Yes!! I also like that it comes with a two harnesses--one to mount semi-permanently and one to clip on. Very easy to use. Good product.
Not temperature compensated. Watch out for old 3-step unit. July 19, 2008 dallas7 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
There are two things you need to consider when purchasing this item. First, unlike its big brother, the Plus, the Junior is not temperature compensated. To find out more about that, go to batterytender.com, click on the FAQs link on the left and read item #18: "What is Temperature Compensation and how important is it?" I was concerned about this, as living in the desert as I do, the temperature in my garage is 90 to 130 degrees most of the year and can drop to the 50s in the winter. I inquired about this to Battery Tender support and received this answer: "The Junior is not a temperature compensating unit, however, when the temperature is hotter, the unit will actually charge the battery a bit faster and it will not harm the battery." I don't know what to make of this, especially since compensation is so important according to their FAQ. The other is to make sure you get the 4-step Junior which replaced the 3-step over a year and a half ago. On the back side of the packaging on the left side look for the reference to "Complete 4-step." That being said, I've been using a Junior for almost 6 months on my motorcycle so I can't post up my experience as well as others here. I'm hoping it will provide my batteries with more service than the 14-16 months I'm used to. By popular acclaim and editorial content, the Junior and the Plus have garnered untarnished reputations and withstood the test of time. For maintaining your battery, there really isn't anything else out there.
Not very good for using 220v Outlet and with 220/110 Transformer July 17, 2008 Q. Xue 1 out of 6 found this review helpful
If you are going to use it outside of USA for a 220v (50Hz) outlet and with a 220v/110v transformer, this charger may be not quite good for you. I have purchased two and they all stop to work completely after only 2 times of use. I think that there is some kind of protection circuit that "cuts-off" connection but with no way to know how to get it back. I also purchased another Deltran battery charger: Deltran Battery Tender 12-Volt 800 milliamp Waterproof Battery Charger and this one is very good and doesn't need transformer because its input is 100-240 and only about $10 more expensive.
