good tac February 3, 2010 Kimberly F. Delano easy as hell to install put it on my 1985 f150 5.0 and cheap to,its pretty accurate for and responsive .
Cheap but poor quality October 29, 2009 Florin Micle (San Jose, CA) Since my 2007 Toyota Yaris base version didn't come with a tach, I decided to install an aftermarket one. So after doing some research I decided to go with this Sunpro because it was the size that I wanted (I like small gauges) and it was cheap, so it seemed like I couldn't do anything wrong. Well, it seems that you do get what you pay for...
So I drilled a big hole in the glove compartment above the steering wheel (which is a cool Yaris feature) and installed the tach according to the specs. Tried it out right after install and was happy, everything worked as planned. The next day I noticed that the needle won't come back down to zero if you turn off the key too quickly, it will simply freeze to whatever value it was when the power was cut off. So even when my car was off, the tach was stuck at, say, 500 rpm. In order for it to reset to zero you would have to slowly turn the key and pause in the ACC position, so the needle has time to come all the way down. That was the first disappointment. But after all, not the biggest problem.
The reason I don't like this tach is because after a few days, it stopped working correctly. I start the engine and the needle goes to 1,000 rpm no matter what the actual engine speed is. And it just stays there for a while, anything from 10 to 20 minutes and after that, it starts working normally. Since my commute takes about 25 minutes, that means I can enjoy this feature for only about 5 minutes each way. Some days it seems to start working earlier, but I haven't figured out why. I live in California, so humidity cannot really be a problem.
I will probably try a replacement and if that still has the same problem I will look for a different brand.
Good and simple April 30, 2009 J. Jordon I like this tachometer, it was easy to install, and fairly easy to hook up. I own a 1994 Dodge Ram van and the only thing that i had trouble with was the installation guide does not list my van. so, I had to run the wire to the coil, but even that was easy.
I like it, it is a little slow on reaction, but does catch up.
I rate this tach as 10 out of 10
Perfect Little Tach March 31, 2009 E. Voultepsis (New York) This is a great little tach to use if your car doesnt come with one from the factory or if the one currently in your car isnt working. Mine worked flawlessly but make sure you have a good ground or else the reading will be all over the place. Good instructions as well.
Good product. Nicely designed. Easy to install. March 13, 2009 Edwin Rabbipal (Colorado Springs, CO) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I bought this tach for my sons 97 civic DX (it didn't come with a tacho). Started looking out on ebay and these little babies were selling for about 35 bucks - so Amazon was a steal at 25 bucks with free shipping.
Shipping: It arrived about 4 days later (kudo's to Amazon for super fast free shipping). Package was good - nothing damaged.
First look: Opened the package and took it out. Came with the tach, instruction manual, and vehicle reference. Nothing complicated.
Installation: This was a breeze. Went online to civic forums and they said the blue wire that my car already came with was the tach wire. Installation was so easy, took about 20 mins, I thought I did somethign wrong. I started the car up and the tach came to life. Have it mounted on the pillar to the left of the driver.
Longevity: Been installed for at least a month now and no problems. Works great.
