| Customer Reviews: Cable Lock June 26, 2009 Christopher D. Cox (Washington DC) This is a strong well made lock. I use it to lock my motorcycle to a fixed object which makes it harder to steal. People tell me that it's too bulky then they come back and tell me how their motorcycle was stolen. I like my bike so I carry extra security.
Decent value but not good quality January 28, 2009 Trev (east bay, usa) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I use this cable as a helmet lock on my motorcycle. It works fine for this purpose as it doubles as a wheel lock for an extended parking chore. My main gripe is that the plastic piece for the lock is cheap and will break off easy and the lock mechanism itself is poor quality and hard to line up. Once you get the hang of it, it's fine but some of my friends always ask me when they try to use it, "why don't you get rid of that piece of sh**?!" My reply? Because I know how to use it! Buyer beware but it suits me fine since it was relatively cheap compared to competitive products. 3 stars because I'm still using it after a year. Buy again? No, I would pay a little more for a better locking mechanism.
Built like a tank November 7, 2008 Risbar (STL MO) Excellent lock, well made, the lighted key is a nice touch. I liked the first one of these so much I bought 3 of them. It is nice to buy something that is a bargain. (good product at a reasonable price)
8mm of steel cable, 12mm of plastic September 9, 2008 J.Murphy (Fort Collins, Colorado) 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
This is not a 20mm cable lock. The steel cable is actually only about 8mm or 10mm in diameter, within a 20mm diameter plastic sleeve. (Optical distortion from the sleeve makes the steel look thicker than it is, but you can easily pry the sleeve back near one end and see that it's really a con.) I returned mine and got an OnGuard Akita 5036 lock, which is the real deal, much heavier. It cost $32 instead of $24 but for the extra $8 you get a real strong cable lock, not a joke.
