Product Description Aftermarket horns provide a louder, and often more pleasant sound than stock horns. Stock horns typically have an output of 97 dB. The decibel scale is logarithmic and therefore the sound pressure doubles for every increase of 3.3 points, i.e. a horn with 118 dB produces approximately seven times the sound preasure as a stock horn. Hella Supertone Horn Kit. This horn is best on open interstates where you want to warn a truck that he is about to run into you. Lucy's Comment: D above Middle C to B: - a major sixth and a consonant interval.

Super Loud Horns August 18, 2008 Miguel Santiago I thought I wasn't going to be able to install the Hella SuperTone Horn Kit, 118db on my 2003 PT Turbo Cruiser, But I was wrong. The instructions were every where and easy to follow when I received them (a pair). So I was able to install them in no time at all. I can now move cars and trucks out of my way on the freeway. I am happy with this purchase and I got my beep back from the horns when I lock the car with the remote telling me that the car is now locked. Thanks, Amazon.Com...
Exactly what I expected August 14, 2008 Quentin Starin (Minneapolis, MN) Despite what another reviewer said, these are EXACTLY the same as the "German" horns. Hella has moved production of these horns to India, which causes confusion between these and what are known as the "Indian" horns. Now both are made in India. These are the louder 118dB 300/500 Hz horns (known as the "German" horns) while the others are the quieter 300/350 Hz horns (known as the "Indian" horns). Company shipped quickly and had the lowest price by $10. I am very satisfied.
beep beep July 15, 2008 Impulse buyer (Alexandria, VA) I got these horns to replace the broken horn on my is300. they're pretty easy to install with some basic electronics knowledge. they are loud. significantly louder than any other factory vehicle horn that i've heard. they'd be plenty loud with just one of the horns, but it wouldn't sound right. with all of the loud subwoofers and exhaust systems on the streets these days, i prefer having a set of horns that can cut right through all of that noise. some may complain about the price, but these are high quality horns that are worth their price. cheaper ones are usually made of plastic and other cheap materials. pick up a pair, and potentially avoid a dangerous accident.
No complaints here March 12, 2008 S. dhamrhat (PA) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I have two of these sets (yes, two!) installed behind the grill of my Scion xB and they're great! I agree with other reviewers that you have to be careful because debris can damage them but this all depends on how you mount them. behind my grill, they're still loud - not as loud as i would like them, but still okay. when i take the grill off (sometimes i drive like this), they're ridiculously loud. in terms of sound, they're like those BEEP BEEP horns in movies but the reason why these are so great is because of the volume of the beep beep. they're sooo loud! one set is 118 decibels, and i installed two of them!!! =X if you are standing about 30-40 feet away and someone honks the horn, you get a ringing sensation in your ears. =P i would give them a 4.5 review only because, as one reviewer mentioned, the brackets are hard to bend although i didn't need to bend them for my installation. As for the install - the horns come with the relay so i suggest using it. If you fry / mess up anything during installation, at least it'll be the small $5 relay that comes with the horns as opposed to the more expensive car relay that you'll probably have to pick up/replace at the dealer. you may even fry more than just the horn relay so i would be really cautious about doing the install this way. i have two sets installed and installed two SEPERATE relays. yeah, some may call it overkill but at least it's a safe installation. all in all - a good replacement for stock horns without going crazy and spending $1,000+ on the more expensive "loud" airhorn setups. i prefered these horns over the air horns because the airhorn setup is a lot more involved in terms of parts / pieces to mount (horns + compressor), etc. this is a good solution for the mechanically inclined like me.
Buyer beware!!!! November 8, 2007 Michael P. Smith 0 out of 4 found this review helpful
Buyer beware!!!! regardless of the fact that the picture clearly shows the Hella horns with the Made in Germany label in the front, that is not what is sent!! I just received mine today and they are the crappy India ones, not the 118dB ones made in Germany. I would not buy from this company ever again
