 Auto Dry works, but don't follow the directions... September 26, 2008

I am sold on the Mr Clean Auto-dry system. I bought one after seeing how well it did on a neighbor's black lexus. Black is tough to dry right even with a shammy and if you have a black car you need this product! I have a late model black Mercedes and even when I went through a fancy car wash where they dry the car for you I get spots on the sides during the drive home. This system lets you wash a car in your driveway and leave it parked allowing two hours to dry completely.
Here is the way I found it to be most effective...
1)Wet the whole car with the hose, start on the roof, sides, back and front last.
2) Don't use the machine for applying the soap! I think it wastes soap and doesn't go on sudsy enough. I squirt directly onto microfiber mitt and add soap to mitt as I need it. I only use the handheld for spraying off soap and for final deionizied rinse.
3) After soaping and rinsing sections of the car, keep those sections wet until you do the final deionizing rinse.
4) Dont drive the car until it dries. I usually wash car after dinner when the sun is low and can leave car alone.
Summary
Refill soap and filters are expensive but works! dont fill the soap reservoir in the sprayer just keep the squeeze bottle handy to apply to mitt. Keep the whole car wet as you do various sections prior to the final rinse. I have found less and less places selling the filter re-fills and soap. Keep your eye out for it as a clearance item and stock up. I just bought 6 of each for $2 a piece at a Sears store as they are discontinuing it.

I tried this product quite a few times and was disappointed almost every time. You cannot let the water dry or you will still get water spots unlike what it says. I contacted Mr. Clean about this product and got a canned response that said nothing. I ended up throwing it away and just use Eagle One's spray soap and water and dry it very quickly.

This product will break easily. The door that holds the filter in place is flimsy. I tried getting a hold of someone to purchase the door. Customer service is NON Existent, so I strongly suggest getting a car sprayer from Brookstone instead of this one. If this company had any level of customer service, then I would recommend this product highly. The product works extremely well, however the construction leaves a lot to be desired.

This, by far, is the worst piece of car cleaning aid that I have ever
purchased. Save your money for a good bucket, sponges and a quality car
wash such as Meguiars, etc. Finish up with a quality chamios and you'll
still be money ahead!~
