Product Description E3 has taken the best features from traditional spark plugs, such as cut-back ground electrodes and surface gaps, and combined them to create a new ground electrode design. Surface gap plugs present the flame kernel to the piston (or rotor) more directly, reducing the travel time from the spark to the combustion gases (Although this difference is only measurable in hundred-thousands of a second, at 5000 RPM, they can add up). This avoids the "doughnut" shaped flame front created by standard spark plug electrodes. This is achieved in the E3 design through the open section at the top of the ground electrode. E3 spark plugs combine the benefits of additional sharp electrode edges with a cut-back electrode design used on some racing spark plugs. The increase of available edge-to-edge surface area encourages a more rapid spark discharge while also reducing quenching and shadowing. The three legs that support the special geometry of E3's automotive plug ground electrode aid in heat dissipation for longer electrode life. The center electrode on E3 spark plugs is created from a nickel alloy with a copper center core for both improved conductivity as well as heat dissipation.

20,000 Miles and done May 14, 2008 Peter Zelins 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I used these plugs in my 2002 VW Passat 1.8T AWM for a little more then a year and a half. I had used them for just a tad over 20,000 Miles. When new they worked just as well as stock plugs. However I saw no improvement in MPG. They started to fail and misfire at just a few miles over 20,000 Miles of use. I have never had spark plugs wear out so fast. I expected more from this product. I am extremely disappointed in these plugs. I've had Autolite Platinum's that lasted 40,000 Miles (twice as long) and they cost about half the price. I will not buy E3 Spark Plugs in the future!
Seems To Work April 23, 2008 M. Anderson (USA) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I just installed a set of these plugs on my 2004 Chevy Silverado 4WD 5.3L gas engine after watching Horsepower on the Powerblock channel. The dyno test on Horsepower showed a 5.5hp increase and slightly better gas savings over platinum tipped plugs that were also tested. So, I got mine for $5.99 from Summit Racing, as they had the size I needed. These come pre-gapped for your application. Not that 5.5hp is a whopping increase, but I have noticed the throttle response is a little better and when I put my foot into it, the truck has a little more giddyup. The results on gas mileage are still out. But, that's not why I bought them in the first place. If you can pick up 5.5hp just by changing plugs and at a fair price. Why not?
Where's the economy? August 24, 2007 Lisa G (Willits, CA) 1 out of 2 found this review helpful
I've had these "green plugs" installed in my 2002 Subaru Outback for about 6 months and have yet to see any fuel savings. I suspect, however, that the fault is due to my computer being too "smart". I've been told that the computer senses less fuel coming out of the system due to the fuel savings of more efficient burning, and consequently dumps more gasoline into the fuel injector! So much for "economy"!
