Like it but needs a GROUNDED plug and longer cord!! February 16, 2010 Uncle Joe (USA) Works very well on the oil pan. I leave it plugged in overnight. The car starts like a charm and in 15 degree weather I have warm air from the heater within half a mile. BUT...it really needs 3-prong wiring and another foot of cord. I'd happily pay an additional dollar for that!
Not grounded plug February 10, 2010 open road This product does not have a three prong grounded plug. Otherwise, it sticks and gets hot and does what I wanted it to do. I have these on two small import cars, I would use a higher wattage model for a larger engine.
works like a charm February 5, 2010 scott (eastern west virginia) This heat pad is just what i needed.i put it on the oil pan of my 860 ford tractor and plug it in for 2 to 3 hours and the oil is nice and warm and the tractor starts right up like its 70 degrees. the temperatures have been in the teens to 20's when i want to use the tractor to plow snow and it sets out in the weather. i would recommend this product.
Misrepresentation February 5, 2010 Larry H. Harms (Northfield Minnesota) 0 out of 1 found this review helpful
I purchased these heaters under the assumption that they were to heat my auto batteries.
When I received them I was in the middle of other repairs and it took a while (2 weeks) to get ready to install them. I was very suprised at how small they were.
When trying to understand how these units would go underneather the batteries for installation it did not make sense to place them under the batteries for fear of rubbing a hole in them.
DigKats 24150 150 Watt 4"x 5" Universal Hot Pad Heaterging out the small instructions I noted it said "not for use on batteries.
These were pretty expensive units (25 each) for them to state NOT to use them for the reason they were purchased.
Excellent heater!!! June 8, 2009 P. Mozarowski I bought a new oil pan because the old one was very rusted, and I wanted to make sure the heater would stick. I cleaned off the surface meticulously with acetone, then stuck on the heater. I prepared some "steel" 5 minute high temperature epoxy and used a knife to spread some around the edge of the heater, to discourage it from peeling off (I do not know if this is required, but I just didn't want to take chances)
My oil pan holds 4 quarts of oil, and in just 3 hours of heating on a timer the oil is nice and warm - the pan feels warm to the touch, and when I take the dipstick out, the end of the stick is warm too. By doing this you will NEVER have a cold start first thing in the morning, so your engine wear will be greatly reduced, plus the oil will last longer because a warm engine is much easier on the oil than a cold engine.
